LGBTQI+ Affirmative Training Module​​

LGBTQI+ Affirmative Training Module
 The Multicultural Communities Council of WA have developed an affirmative training module which service providers can use to improve their capacity to deliver inclusive, safe and effective care for people from CaLD and LGBTQI+ backgrounds.

To complete the module, participants must review the four Training Modules below and then complete a quiz to validate their training to receive a certificate of completion which will be authorized by the Multicultural Communities Council of WA.

  • LGBTQI+ Awareness
  • Intersectionality & CaLD LGBTQI+ Communities
  • ​LGBTQI+ Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
  • Inclusion in the Workplace

​​Training Module 1: LGBTQI+ Awareness
Learning objectives: Gain a basic understanding of diverse bodies, gender, gender identity and sexuality.
  • Understand that there is a difference between gender and sexuality
  • Identify the difference between the L, G, B, T, Q, I and the + of LGBTQI+
  • Understand the effects of stereotypes and unconscious bias​

Training Module 2: Intersectionality & CaLD/MCMF LGBTQI+ Communities
Learning objectives: Learn about the intersectionality between Multicultural/Multi-faith (MCMF) and LGBTQI+ communities. Learn how to engage and support CaLD/MCMF LGBTQI+ people.
  • Gain increased sensitivity and awareness
  • Identify cultural safety and social issues
